Greeting from the Omicron Phi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Welcome to our Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Omega Phi Omega’s website. We greet you as the first Greek charted chapter in the City of First in Kokomo, Indiana. For almost thirty (37) years we have been of Service to Mankind in Kokomo and the surrounding areas. Members of our chapter serve from Kokomo, Marion, Indianapolis, and cities in Ohio, Georgia and Texas.
Our chapter was charted on May 18, 1985 with 16 dedicated women who wanted to serve the Kokomo community. We stand strong today thirty-five years later with thirty strong women with the continued commitment to serve of community on many levels.
Our international programs are under the theme, Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service which includes five target areas. Those target areas are HBCU for Life: A Call to Action, with a focus on the College Admission’s Process (CAPS), Women’s Health Care and Wellness, Building Your Economic Legacy, The Arts with a focus on the Harlem Renaissance Era, and Global Impact. Our local programs are designed to serve you and built around the international target areas.
Some of the local programs and activities we have sponsored through the years include, the citywide, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration, youth summits with various topics, clothes, and food drives to assist the needy, health assessments, back to school rallies, and backpack giveaways.
Our two current fundraisers are the Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr. Celebration and the Pink and Purple Ball. These events are used to raise money for scholarships. Through out the years we have given thousands of dollars out in scholarships to area youth to assist them in pursuing their goals of attending college. We also assist students with international travel with their schools.
We are proud to serve our community and grateful for the community support we have received throughout the years. Alpha Kappa Alpha Program Initiatives
The program theme for 2022-2026 is Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood. The International Program includes six program targets that are designed to advance the mission of Alpha Kappa Alpha with excellence and underscore our commitment to sustainable service.
